CFL comes on board to support Leadership Fiji in providing desks and chairs to needy children

South Pacific’s largest broadcaster, Communications Fiji Limited which is the parent company of Legend FM, FM96, Navtarang, Radio Sargam, Viti FM and fijivillage has come on board to support the Leadership Fiji Fellows of 2020 in their My Space program.

Under the My Space program, the Fellows of 2020 will build desks and chairs for needy children as part of their community project.

They donated over 100 desks and chairs to the Fiji School for the Blind, children of Nanuku Settlement in Vatuwaqa, Loloma Home in Nadi and some areas in Vanua Levu last year.

The cost of each set was $90.

2020 Team leader Patricia Naisara says they have identified 150 children in different communities who are in need of desks and chairs but says the ultimate goal is that every home with a child will have at least one desk.

She says there are a lot of children in Fiji that will benefit through this program.

CFL General Manager, Charles Taylor says this is a good opportunity for CFL to get involved as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Taylor says this will be an exercise where they will build the desks themselves and use their platforms to let the people know about it so that others can do the same.

Naisara says they think CFL is not only going to be a great partner in the project but will also provide the much needed exposure for the children.

Naisara adds about 4 corporate bodies have come on board to support them so far and they are hoping for more to come forward and assist the underprivileged children.
